The CodeMark Certification Scheme is a voluntary third-party building product certification scheme, administered by the Australian Building Codes Board. It supports the use of new or innovative building products in specified circumstances in Australia, by providing a nationally accepted process for demonstrating compliance with the National Construction Code.
The Scheme is a voluntary 3rd Party certification scheme that authorises the use of products in specified circumstances addition, facilitate compliance with the BCA (NCC).
CodeMark certificates are the highest form of evidence of suitability specified in the BCA (A5G3). States and Territories accept CodeMark certificates without further evidence (provided that the scope of the certificate includes all intended uses)
The Scheme provides for development, validation and implementation of an evaluation plan (EP). The EP is designed to cover all aspects of the product that are claimed by the applicant to satisfy the related performance provisions of the BCA (NCC).
In addition, the Scheme provides for a review of the applicant’s manufacturing Quality Plan to demonstrate that manufacturing of the CodeMark product is performed under a set of defined processes.
The scheme goes back to at least 2009 and was initially a joint scheme with New Zealand. Since then both Australia and NZ have developed their own rules
